The Sea Around Us is pleased to be a co-organizer of the event Braiding Knowledge Systems for Transforming Governance, taking place in Downtown Vancouver on February 2, 2023, just one day before the start of the Fifth International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC5).

Presented as a side event to IMPAC5, the free workshop aims to develop guidelines for the co-creation of ocean knowledge solutions for biodiversity conservation informed by a variety of expertise and perspectives.

Ten speakers, among them the Sea Around Us’ alumna Verónica Relaño, and Andrea Reid, from UBC’s Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, will discuss topics related to communities’ adaptation to marine biodiversity loss, traditional management of resources & territories, teaching co-design to the next generation of scientists, among other matters crucial for marine conservation.
