The Sea Around Us principal investigator, Dr. Daniel Pauly, and Advisory Board Members, Drs. William Cheung and Rashid Sumaila, have been listed among the most highly cited investigators worldwide in 2024 by Clarivate Analytics.
The researchers were selected because they have authored multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1 per cent by citations for their field and publication year in the Web of Science over the past decade – indicating exceptional influence in their disciplines.
The Web of Science database provides reference and citation data from academic journals, conference proceedings, and other documents.
Dr. Pauly, whose Web of Science h index is 98 based on over 47,700 citations, has been part of Clarivate’s list since 2018, mainly due to his work on fisheries with the Sea Around Us.
Dr. Sumaila has a Web of Science h index of 74 based on more than 23,900 citations and Dr. Cheung has an h index of 73 based on over 21,700 citations.
Roughly 7,000 scientists are included on Clarivate’s list. Congratulations to them all.
