Liesl is entering her first year at the University of British Columbia and is working towards her BSc, hoping to major in biochemistry. Being born in tropical Indonesia, she has experienced first-hand the impact of fisheries on the country’s marine ecosystems and observed the profound effects of climate change among countless floods.
When she moved to the West Coast of Canada, Liesl’s passion and curiosity for marine ecosystems and scientific research only continued to grow.
She is beyond thrilled to be a volunteer with the Sea Around Us and looks forward to exploring the different possibilities for marine science research while contributing to the conservation of aquatic ecosystems and sustainable fishing.
In her spare time, Liesl likes playing music, baking, and spending time with her friends and family.
