Imanol Boussion – Visiting Researcher

Imanol Boussion

Born and raised in Marseille near the Mediterranean Sea, Imanol developed an early passion for marine life through snorkelling and scuba diving. This interest led him to study ecology and biology at Aix-Marseille University.

In his final year, Imanol moved to the University of Quebec at Rimouski, where he deepened his understanding of marine ecology. He then completed a master’s degree at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, working on fish early-life survival and aquatic bird predation, which further strengthened his expertise in aquatic ecology.

In 2026, Imanol joined the Sea Around Us team, where he is working on understanding ecosystem changes in the Grand Barachois lagoon of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon.

In the future, he hopes to study marine ecosystem dynamics, develop tools to better understand fish recruitment, and contribute to the recovery of marine ecosystems.

When he is not working, Imanol enjoys diving, hiking, and wildlife photography.
