Victor comes from southwestern France, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, where he grew up fishing for trout in nearby streams. This early connection to rivers and lakes sparked his interest in freshwater ecosystems.
After graduating from high school, he went on to study biology in Paris, and then joined Agrocampus Ouest, a French school well known for its programs in fisheries science.
Victor joined the Sea Around Us initiative in 2025 to gain the international work experience required to complete his master’s degree in fisheries engineering. While in Vancouver, he will be working with Dr. Daniel Pauly on the Gill-Oxygen Limitation Theory, focusing on trout.
Once he is back in France, Victor will continue his studies while working as a fishmonger. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, rugby, hiking, and crossword puzzles.
