Sydney Baxter – Research Assistant

Sydney BaxterSydney grew up surrounded by the aquatic environment, from her backyard being Lake Erie to family Christmas vacations in Cuba where her love for the ocean began. She enjoys camping, travelling, exploring the outdoors and anything related to the water, whether it be fishing, boating, diving or water skiing.

Sydney began her undergrad degree at the University of Guelph and continued onto her MSc degree in Coastal Marine Biology and Ecology abroad in southern Italy. During her studies, she got her advanced SCUBA license which led to her involvement in coral reef restoration in Thailand. Sydney is happiest in the ocean and recently moved to Vancouver to pursue working in marine conservation. She is excited to be doing research with the Sea Around Us!
